How to stop snoring
By Dirk Bansch
Let me start by saying that this is not supposed to be medical advice and neither should it be used if you are suffering from sleep apnea. This is just a little technique that has worked well for me and for some friends of mine. Unfotunately, I can't remember where I heard about this technique, so I can't give proper credit. And the technique is - drum roll please - sucking your thumb! That's it! Sucking your thumb for about 30 seconds before going to sleep will relax your throat muscles considerably, which often will lead to a measurable decrease in snoring. Tune in next time when we learn about how to stop sucking your thumb. Good luck and sleep well! |

I would think sticking your thumb in some brandy first could add to the effectiveness. I am trying to picture someone coming to the magic of 30 seconds. Nope 10 seconds doesn't help. 20 seconds isn't quite right. Ah 30 seconds is just right. Is it more effective to use a right thumb or left thumb. Can you suck on someone else's thumb with equal effect?
I read somewhere that men have narrower air passages than women and are more likely to snore. Plus, alcohol increases muscle relaxation leading to more snoring. Sounds like an interesting survey or study! :)
That is a new one for me and proof that one can learn something new every day
Since I never wake myself up snoring and my wife has got used to it (as I have got used to her snoring, too, even though she spends little time here with me)) I no longer know if I snore any more (or any less). My dogs? That is another story! Unfortunately they have neither the thumbs nor the inclination to suck.
Well, anything is worth trying to cut down on snoring, I would guess. Not my problem, but a good topic to help those who make sleeping noises. Also, the suggestion of thumb sucking is quite funny. So are related comments of others, who take it one or more steps further. And so we have a bit of social networking regarding snorers. That makes it a great little intel.
“Drugs have nothing to do with the creation of music. In fact, they are dumb and self indulgent. Kind of like sucking your thumb!” Courtney Love
Not a remedy I've heard of before, but hey, if someone suffers from it why not give it a go.

I can't wait to email this to our friends and to hear his wife's response if he tries it. Thank you for sharing,Dirk. Best wishes. Frederick
Ha! It sointently is woith a try...
If you suck on both thumbs at the same time does it work twice as good?
I gave you 5 stars for this intel! If anyone can solve my hubby's snoring problem they deserve a medal. 5 stars will have to do! I can just hear his remarks when I tell him this solution. "What, you've got to be kidding me!"
